A Reaction Paper about Cyberspace Privacy and Security

We are currently living in an era where the use of the internet has become second nature to millions of people. Education, business, healthcare, and communication are just some of the fields which are getting advantages from the internet. However, as we the users enjoy the privilege that the internet offers to us, it also brings new and dangerous risks due to attempts from unauthorized third parties to compromise private information for their own benefit. That is why we need to learn about Cyberspace Privacy and Security. 

Cyberspace is a world of information through the internet. 

Cyber-Privacy is mostly defined by the services used by individuals. Whatever agreements individuals agree to when they sign up for service are usually away from their right to privacy. In other cases, the reasonable expectation of privacy is not reasonable if the behaviors or communications in question were knowingly exposed to public view (Tim Nguyen, 2010).

Cyber Security is the application of technologies, processes and controls to protect systems, networks, programs, devices and data from cyber attacks. It aims to reduce the risk of cyber-attacks and protect against the unauthorized exploitation of systems, networks, and technologies (IT Governance).

Cyber privacy and security is a critical business issue for every organization and every user. It is a threat that everyone needs to take action on to eradicate or if not minimize this threat. Therefore, all users must understand the risks of using the Internet, the importance of securing their personal information, and the consequences if this is not done properly. Otherwise, our personal and private information will be invaded by those unauthorized third parties and might be used against us. On the other hand, there are ways introduced by Dan Rafter for NortonLifeLock on how to protect and keep your privacy secured from hackers. This includes the following:

1. Limit the personal information you share on social media

2. Browse in incognito or private mode

3. Use a different search engine

4. Use a virtual private network

5. Be careful where you click

6. Secure your mobile devices, 

7. Use quality antivirus software

Furthermore, we the users, it is our responsibility to keep our accounts safe, and to do so we need to be extra careful in every click and we need to be wise in every decision we make because we do not know who can access our information.
